hive audio is here a brand new label, run by the makers of the infamous hive club, located in the the industrial quarter of zurich. the imprint was founded by samuel gmur and adrian wöllhaf, better known as animal trainer with some great releasing on oliver koletzkis stil vor talent, amongst others. zurich is not only party capital of beautiful switzerland, it is more and more becoming a habitat for talented and creative music producers and djs, who will now get a new international platform. releases will be held mainly by residents of the hive club itself benja will be given the honour to start off with his track paradose. >paradose< impresses with a funky percussion loop, ultra-brief chords and scantily applied vocal snippets. benja keeps it dust-dry, leaving out every kind of frippery and lifting the track to a real &#64258,,oor-&#64257,,ller without any razzmatazz needed. on the &#64258,,ip we have a remix by christian burkhardt, who needs no further introduction. he turns the number into a real techno loop monster, which will catch you within a few beats, and then wont let loose again. hypnotic and twinkle-toed at the same time, his remix easily will suit any after hour or peaktime set to the same degree. christian burkhardt himself is also one of our favourite guests in the club. this is why, of course, we are double happy to welcome a hive club resident on our hive audio 001.

multi instrumentalist and singer maryja symone johnson and percussionist eric thomas joined together at the rhythm sticks festival in london in july 2004 to create new sounds that have been influenced by afro-caribbean origins. they have successfully performed at different concerts and festivals throughout europe. their first single >je suis music< edited by thiaba records is an adaptation of the original disco hit written in 1978 by international artist cerrone. afro-urban concept completely transformed this song by playing soca grooves with new melodies but the dance floor flavor stays alive. on side 1 is the vocal version with some extended piano, drums and percussions improvisations at the end. on side 2 the first track is an instrumental version recorded with the typical 70s sound where the drums and percussion are in evidence. the second track is more an hypnotic london drum n bass version.

palette recordings celebrates its 13 year anniversary with a release by the duo that started it all for the label. no giant mix compilation or collection of remixes, just another example of what has built the foundation of palette over the last 13 years. john tejada & arian leviste have been collaborating for over 18 years now. with this release the duo in a way come full circle, combining some of their oldest production techniques with newer ones. its been a long road for these 2 seeing styles and trends change, equipment and technology come and go over the years, but what has remained a constant is their vision of electronic music. >messenger< with its subtle intro of modular synths and rhythmic pads breaks out of its sinister drop full force into a multi dimensional crowd pleaser. the stabs continue to build energy while layered drum programming and modulating synth lines escalate the tracks energy. on the flip, >observer< continues with a fierce pace that harkens back to the days of palette 4, combining vintage synth stabs and drum machines recreating that classic vibe which is gaining such momentum again these days. the difference here is these guys were around at the time already releasing music that would garner them such high acclaim over the years.

the titel track rush me fuses the steinbergian house style with the lo-fi charm of the roaring 20s. it comes over slightly poppy but with a very relaxed and laid back groove. steinberg at his best! format:bs rush me remix, that has been reduced to the original vocals comes over trippy and with a good dose of bongos making it into a grooving party track. steinbergs es la vida is an elegant reduced tech house beauty. the rhythmic, percussive vocals hit on a very monotone but kicking bass line. a touch of a warm night by the sea in spain! format:bs interpretation of es la vida concentrates on the vocals and some of the percussion from the original, and combines steinbergs basics with a hypnotic synth-structure that boils up in the last third of the track until it finally explodes! all tracks arent scared to admit that theyre aiming for the peak time. 4* different styles. kick ass!
